STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. At St Vincent’s we seek to encourage our students’ curiosity in these areas. We aim to provide a high quality STEM education experience which creates a positive disposition towards STEM subjects and STEM careers.
The Curious Minds Awards gives our school the chance to not only develop STEM learning and engagement, but also receive recognition for our amazing work. We have been awarded the Gold Award for 2022, 2023 and are working on our application for 2024.
STEM activities in the school include; Science Week, Science Fair, Space Week, Engineering Week, Maths week, Lego First Leagu
We are pleased to engage with our partners in STEM; Johnson and Johnson 3D printing, Dornan Engineering STEAM in a box, STEPS Engineers’ Week, Microsoft Dreamspace, Lego First League, Junior Achievement Ireland, Ireland’s Fossil Heritage at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at University College Cork (UCC), SFI (Science Foundation Ireland), BCO (Blackrock Castle Observatory), Lifetime Lab Cork.
